Launch of Grassroot Rising for Enhanced Leap (GREL) Project in Mion District
NORSAAC has secured a partnership with Christian Aid Ghana “to contribute to the improvement of the lives of the poor and marginalized people in Ghana” The intervention is targeted at the effectiveness of the Livelihood Empowerment Against poverty (LEAP).
The project dubbed Grassroots Rising for Enhanced LEAP shall work towards the achievement of 3 outcomes;
1. Increased ability of citizen groups to independently plan, organize and take actions related to LEAP monitoring and implementation.
2. Increased ability of citizen groups to monitor, identify, communicate and engage duty bearers on issues for redress.
3. Improved and successful engagements meetings between LEAP power holders and citizen groups.
The deliverables of the GREL project hinge on close working relationship with mandated state institution in the LEAP program. Thus the launch of the project by Mion Lana in the Sanzee community with the Department for Social Development, Members of the District Leap Implementation Committee, 21 Community LEAP Implementation Committee members, traditional and religious leaders, organized groups and 125 community members.
The interest of communities on the added value that GREL can add to the LEAP program was witnessed. Communities also signed MoUs with the project for joint responsibility in implementation.
