Strengthening Community-led Initiatives for Peaceful and credible Elections (SCOPE) is aim to contribute to a peaceful, inclusive and transparent elections in Tolon, Tamale, Central Gonja and West Mamprusi Districts of the Northern region of Ghana. Specifically the project work to reduce rejected ballots and ensure peaceful election environment.
With a project cost of $70,000.00 and to be implements within 9 months starting from April to December, 2016. Implementing areas: 28 polling stations in Tolon district, 20 polling stations in Tamale Metropolis, 11 polling stations in West Mamprusi, 20 polling stations In Central Gonja.
• Result 1 Statement: increased quality voting and reduction of 10% rejected ballots in 4 implementing districts
• Result 2 Statement: Reduced pockets of violence by 25% in 4 implementing districts from the EC 78 identified flash points after election 2016.
The project will employ the following strategies to achieve the desired results: Thumb right through the use of community thumb printing clinic facilitators, issues based campaigning through the community election peace teams and observation of election environment.
Project target is designed to reach: 312 Community thumb printing clinic facilitator, 12,480 voters on rightful thumb printing and voter education, 78 Community election Peace Teams, 27,300 community members on peaceful and issues based elections.
